Kensington & Norwood Brass

About Kensington & Norwood Brass

Originally formed in 1898 as the Magill Model Brass Band, in 1927 we became known as the Magill Vice-Regal Band following several well-received performances at Government House. In 1936 the band changed its name to Kensington & Norwood Municipal Band and since 1953 has been the Kensington & Norwood City Band (or K&N Brass amongst our fellow bands).

The band has had a long history of high profile public performances and competition at both State and Nationals level with wins at Nationals A-Grade Level in 1967, 1992 & 2002 and some 30 State titles. The band is the current SA State A-Grade Brass Champions.

K&N Brass has performed with many famous musicians over the years including James Morrison, Dr Robert Child and his brother David Childs and many others too numerous to name.
In 2015 the band was approached by the New Zealand Dance Company to provide the musical accompaniment during the Adelaide performance leg of their ‘Rotunda’, Australian Tour. A rare privilege and experience for all.

K&N Brass continues to look for any opportunities to promote Brass Bands and welcomes anyone to drop in and have a listen or sit in an have a blow. All are welcome.
