Musical Director
Are you our next Musical Director?
After a wonderful five years under the artistic leadership of Timothy Frahn, K&N Brass is seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified conductors to continue the work done by Tim in growing and developing a strong and thriving band.
We are looking for someone with a passion for brass bands with the following skills and experience:
- Demonstrated conducting experience, preferably with a brass band
- Knowledge of contemporary brass band repertoire, both for concerts and contests
- Well-organised with demonstrated time-management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to engage positively with a broad range of people
As the Musical Director, we will be looking for you to carry out the following duties:
- Select repertoire for the Band's annual program of concerts, contests and community events
- Conduct weekly rehersals in a planned manner, proactively preparing the band for engagements
- Actively contribute to the recruitment and retention of suitable players for an A grade band
- Determine player seating for concerts and contests as required
- Attend committee meetings (five per year) and the AGM for the purpose of providing regular updates on artistic and personnel matters and to actively contribute to planning for upcoming engagements
- Take an active role in the promotion of the band and its activities within the broader community
All musicians in the band are volunteers, and the role of Musical Director attracts a modest honorarium for rehearsals and concerts.
