K & N Spring Gully Brass - South Australia's Premier Brass Band

Welcome to K & N Spring Gully Brass & K & N Youth Brass.

'K & N' as we're known in banding circles is South Australia's 'Premier' Brass Band. Established in 1898, we have 112 years of history at the forefront of South Australian banding. We have been Australian National Champions on 3 occasions,  1967, 1992 and 2002. and in the last 20 years we've completely dominated the South Australian competition scene.

K & N's Musical Director is Bruce Raymond and Musical Director of our Youth Brass is Peter Smith.

Our Sponsors

Spring Gully Foods is now proudly the major sponsor of K & N Brass. Under the sponsorship arrangement the band has adopted our new name of K & N Spring Gully Brass.

In Spring 2007 Spring Gully Foods oversaw the design and manufacture of new uniforms for the band. The uniforms are designed to show the connection between Spring Gully Foods and it’s premium range of products. The new uniforms provide the band with a modern, new, exciting and innovative look that will see the band through the many years to come of competitions and performances.

The band also acknowledges the continued support of the City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters.

K & N Success.

At K & N we're excited at being the most successful brass band on the South Australian banding scene.

In 2009 we were again placed first in the 'A' Grade Section of the South Australian Brass Band Championships. Last year our members dominated the South Australian State Solo Competitions.

Our congratulations go to Kevin Joughin on winning the 2009 Champion of Champions event and to Maria Spano from K & N Youth Brass on winning the Junior event section of the same competition.

Youth Brass

K&N Youth Brass has always placed great emphasis on the development of younger players, an integral part of the continued success of our senior band and the betterment of brass bands in general. The band exists to provide opportunities for passionate musicians to play brass band music to the highest standards, and is aimed not only at helping their playing, but also improving their musicianship, widening their musical horizons and motivating them to achieve their full potential as musicians.

Musical Director Peter Smith has taken up the challenge of continuing to develop, coach and mentor K&N Youth Brass, building on what has already been achieved and further developing the band’s musicianship and teamwork.

We're quick to point out, that while this ensemble is called 'Youth Brass', its membership is drawn from all ages. Membership of K&N Youth Brass is open to any player of a brass band instrument. The Band currently has approximately 40 registered members ranging from 10 years of age to mature age.

The band is always on the lookout for chances to perform in public and has a major aim of returning to the very competitive ‘C’ grade arena.
